So who is The Wedding Business Coach?
Well hello there! I’m Melanie and am based in Brisbane, however I am fortunate enough to travel frequently with one of my other businesses which allows me to visit cities all over Australia throughout the year!
I have completed an ICF accredited Diploma in Coaching & Mentoring which included a strong component of NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) and love studying psychology in my spare time.
You are probably at this stage little curious about my background! I started in the business world by building from the ground up a very successful niche bridal gown business – silversixpence.com.au. This first launched in 2009 from a spare room in my house where I worked a day a week while also keeping an almost full time “day job”. Bit by bit it grew over a few short years to a stage that then allowed me to move into a professional studio space (yay!! grown up space). I have now grown it to a level which has allowed me to give up my day job and am consistently fully booked while charging out at great hourly rates! I am a niche designer and have become the “go to person” for those seeking a custom tea length wedding dress with brides from all over Australia flying to Brisbane to have custom gowns through me instead of choosing local designers.
I have purposefully chosen to keep Silver Sixpence a part time business as my love of wedding businesses meant that doing just one thing wasn’t enough to keep my entrepreneurial spirit alive. While pregnant with my second busy boy I then launched vintagebridemag.com.au. This was back in 2012 and this business started off by publishing a quarterly niche print magazine which has been sold in newsagents nationally. Concurrently I launched vintage wedding fairs nationally under the same brand and I had a small team of staff working under me coordinating these highly successful events.
While running Vintage Bride I’ve had the opportunity to chat honestly with countless wedding vendors and provide business advice to help them with elements of their businesses. Some of my best ideas for other businesses come while chatting with them at our wedding fairs and I just love sharing thoughts on some amazing new idea they could potentially include in their business! This time has also given me the opportunity to study which businesses manage to take their businesses to the next level and why.
I am very passionate not only about business but also helping people and sharing in the journey of their success. I simply can’t wait to hear from you as how we can team up and work on that amazing business or business idea of yours!
